Sweet Treats

Having a candy stash is not uncommon in our home. Is it dangerous? Most times! Its always nice to have some chocolate to munch on with an ice cold coca-cola!

I came across these chalkboard labels while at Staples a while back and thought they were absolutely adorable.

I thought what better way to dress up some glass OR just personalize a dish for a dinner party! Check out my way of using this awesome product.

And to make an even bigger statement (see below), just add your favorite candy or all that left over holiday candy that seems to linger around.

I thought I'd share this again since the seasons for treats are approaching us :) Have a wonderful Wednesday! I'm linking here!

Crockpot Chicken

Happy Tuesday! This week I didn't have time to get a linky party together, so I figured I'd share my crockpot chicken recipe that I baked. I will not be able to host my Efforts and Assets weekly linky parties for the next couple weeks. We have a lot going on. I will be back soon with them, so stay tuned!

My family has almost completely cut out red meat from our diet. We eat a lot of chicken and fish. I love crockpot meals that I can just throw together in the morning and have it ready once I walk in the door.

I don't like the thought of my chicken laying in its own juices, it weirds me out! So, I got creative and thought I'd use my steamer to rest the chicken on, then the juices would drip and I wouldn't have anything to worry about.

I laid the steamer inside the crockpot, placed the chicken on it. Added a cup of water to the crockpot. Then, seasoned with my Tuscan roasted garlic seasoning, salt and pepper. Turn the setting to low for 4 hours. For easy clean up, you can use a crockpot baggie and just throw away. I don't heat plastic, so this option is not for me.

This is the result! So tasty!

Add a side dish or chop up and add to your favorite salad.

Coffee in the mornings...

I've been under the weather lately and haven't felt like doing much! I'm actually getting bored of laying in bed. Today, however, I woke up feeling pretty good! Praise the Lord! I decided to throw together a little coffee display. I love coffee! I look forward to mornings for two reasons. My mercies from God are renewed and the smell of coffee brewing. I hope you all have a blessed Saturday!

Happy Saturday! I'll be linking to these fun parties!

Painted B&B Table

I have been at it again. AS chalk paint is amazing. I purchased this B&B table at Target a while back. I held on to it until I could get myself another round of paint from a local vendor Cottage-by-the-seaside-shoppes. It's about an hour from my home, so I do make a day out of my trip when heading out to Jax Beach. This is what I originally started with. A plain light oak table.

Then, I painted to give it some character. My hubby and I enjoy snacking on cheese, crackers, olives and sparkling water!

We enjoy it a little more when we are having a bedtime snack and watching our favorite show.

I highly encourage AS Chalk Paint. Its really amazing. My mother has a project in the works that I will be sharing soon! Also, If you are local to the Jacksonville/Fernandina Beach area, don't forget Cottage-by-the-Seaside-Shoppes has your Annie Sloan paint needs.

I will be linking to these parties!

Back Patio on Hickory Trail

My Husband and I are going to list our home very soon to the public for memories to be made such as are in this home. We are putting it on the market for sale! When we bought 4 1/2 years ago, we knew 5 years down the road we'd be ready to sell and find our forever home. We purchased this home because our backyard adjoins the middle and high school. My son started 6th grade when we purchased our home. My husband and I discussed putting it on the market when he turned 16 and could drive to school. Eeekkk, you know what that means...MY SON is 16!!! Wow, how time flies. I'm going to be photographing our individual rooms so that we can remember our first home years down the road. Today, I have taken a few pictures of our back patio. Ignore the red candle. I haven't changed it out since Christmas. :) We normally don't burn that one, because its so close to the house.

Yes, I know the table is off centered, but we are an off centered family :)

I'll be linking to these fun parties!

Celebrating the 4th

We had such a great day yesterday! It started with coffee and ended with coffee. Doesn't that always make for a great day? Well, if you're a coffee drinker it does :)

We had some family over for a little cookout. My hubby grilled hamburgers and hot dogs (which my Aunt said, you can't celebrate the 4th without hot dogs, so she brought the Nathan's hot dogs :0) I intended on getting pictures of the food while cooking on the grill and set up on the bar, and got to running my mouth and totally forgot!

However, I put together some quick white chocolate pretzel rods and cupcakes in which I already had on hand. We ate and laughed and watched the hot dog eating contest. Then we parted our ways to head to the fireworks show in town. My hubby and I quickly decided that instead of fireworks in the rain, we would forego them for some donut holes and coffee.

It literally took me two years to make this Patriotic Punch! I finally found the accurate recipe!

In keeping with the red, white and blue theme, I decided to throw in a couple of chocolate bars that celebrate our Independence all year with their colors!

I added my red stripped straws to the mix for more of a patriotic look! Straws are very good filler decorations. If you seen my straw drawer, you'd think I was crazy! I have every color and pattern imaginable!

My hubby and I ate donuts and drank coffee on our patio, while it poured rain. I threw together our own little fireworks show with sparklers, and we didn't even get wet!

My hubby and I. ( Ignore the hair, it was in a pony tail and I quickly took it down for a snap shot) From our house to yours, I hope you had a wonderful Independence Day!
