Happy New Year. I spent the evening with the two most important men! My husband and son! We took my mother out to dinner and came home and relaxed the entire evening.

After Christmas it seems so bare in our house. Do you feel that way with your home? I'm starting to get the house back in order from all the Christmas parties and celebrations. I went with a simple white and gold in my formal dining area. Going with neutrel soft pallets for now. During Spring I will bring in some bright colors.

Christmas Mantel 2012

Merry Christmas! We're only 10 days away from the celebration of our king! Being busy with a remodel on my home floors, I went really simple this year. You can look HERE to see a glimpse of my other Christmas decor. So, I tied in simple to my mantel this year as well.

I tied some cinnamon sticks with burlap to this vanilla candle and added burlap to the smaller ones to give it some character!

We hosted our 4th annual Sunday School party at our home this Saturday. Here a a few pictures of the before photos.

Starting to look a lot like Christmas

Merry Christmas! I have been busy with life and things that are thrown in the mix. I just started decorating for Christmas, which is out of my realm. I usually have decor in place and I'm sitting back enjoying it the day after Thanksgiving. This year we had laminate floors installed and had a disaster with our contractor. But it all worked out to our advantage, so I'm thankful for that. For now, I have added a little decor in which I really scaled back this year. Here are a couple pics of our family room.

Decorating with cloches add that wow factor and finishing look of elegance. Here I have added homemade pumpkin bread for a display.

I also love decorating with artichokes.

Pumpkin Bread

Oh how I LOVE anything pumpkin this time of year. I came across this pumpkin recipe and had to try it. It was the most delish recipe I have every tasted and it doesn't even have butter in it? Can you believe it? I sliced it up and put it on display. It didn't last very long at my house. I froze one and then thawed it the day of my women's Bible study for a quick dessert. I got so many compliments on it. Delish...

PUMPKIN BREAD - recipe compliments of decorchick.com

3 C sugar

1 C vegetable oil

4 eggs

3 1/3 C flour

2 tsp baking soda

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

2/3 C water

1 15oz can of pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)

Beat sugar, oil, and eggs together. Beat in flour (a cup at a time), baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in water and pumpkin (don’t use mixer for this part, it will splatter). Mixture looks kind of watery when you’re finished.

Bake in 3 greased loaf pans, 350 degrees for one hour, or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let stand in pans for 10-15 minutes then remove and transfer to wire racks to cool. Let them cool completely before you wrap them up or whatever. They freeze well too.
